Towing Issues: towing of cars, marlow heights shopping center, heights shopping center

My friends car was towed from the Marlow Heights Shopping Center in Prince George's county.  It was towed to some lot, where it had only been there for 15 days.   When we called to get the car back, we were told it was junked.  When we stated we wanted to get the tags off the car, we were told it would cost us $125.    What is the probation period for cars to be left on the junk yard before being the owner being notified that they have a certain amount of time to claim their vehicle?

Not in most states. I've actually never heard of 'junking a vehicle' prior to sending certified letters to all parties. Check the local laws & the state laws. Normally an action is required prior to be able to get a title to do anything with the vehicle. 15 days of storage will add up. As far as the tag, that is your private property and should be returned. It is also tied to DMV, you may not be able to put it on any vehicle if the tag has not been transferred.
