Towing Issues: Towing a Mercedes-Benz, mercedes benz sl 500, renting a moving truck

I have a Mercedes-Benz SL 500 I want to move from California to Wisconsin, I plan on renting a moving truck and put the Mercedes-Benz on a trailer.  I was told that it was to heavy for a four wheel trailer and  would have to put it on a two wheel tow trailer, but would have to disconnect the drive shaft.  Can I put the rear wheels on the two wheel trailer and not cause any damage to the car?

While I tend to stay away from RV towing and car transport trailer issues,  you have found out that places like U-Haul have limits on what can go on their equipment...

Yes it would be better to move the vehicle on a flat trailer, but if the vehicle can be loaded backwards on a tow dolly and secured so that it does not move and bottom out on the trailer  it should work...

But keep in mind that the front end of the vehicle will be lower now and that can cause damage to the front end of the vehicle....

There are so many variables in this that is why I tend to shy away from answering things like this.
