Towing Issues: Hook from tow truck ripped my side skirt..., side skirt, anchor point

Question
When my '02 Jetta was being towed to my house, the "tow technician" attached his hook to a hole in the side skirt for the front anchor point. Thus once we were down the road a couple miles, this "hook" ripped through the skirt down the front of the car about a foot until it fell out and the car "tapped" (smashed) into the tow truck. So, I have a rear bumper that is not very scratched from the incident, but is bowed, and a wonderful ventilation opening in my passenger's side skirt. The technician, after talking to his boss a bit, assured me it would be payed for. Should I call my insurance company? (who actually set up the tow-roadside assistance) Should I trust the guy to do it right? Do I have any legality to tell him I want him to pay for it, but I've got my own place to fix it?  help.

Answer
See what the tow company is going to do, yes it does take some time to get repairs done, but it also sounds to me that it was not hooked up properly...

As to reporting it to your insurance company, well I would keep that option open as it could be the only choice after the tow company does not follow through.

Your own place to repair it, well they might let you do that, but then again they might just take 2 or more estimates and pay the lower of them
