Towing Issues: Towing, state motor vehicles, tow company

Question
After a car is towed, what is the allowed time frame for a tow company to notify the owner that the car was towed.

Answer
Wow, hard to specifically answer this one question...  I know that some states have rules and regulations on this subject..
For example in Washington State the tow company notifies the owner by mail within 24 hours (this is how soon the letter has to be mailed)

I know in some areas the local police do the notifications via mail..

It all depends on the laws of the area you are in..

But from the research I have done it usually is in a time frame of 2 days (48hrs) to 2 weeks...

I know in Alabama it takes up to 30 days sometimes to get the information at times from the state to be able to notify the vehicle owners..

A lot of this question also depends on how fast and easy the tow company can gain access to the registered and legal owners information from the state motor vehicles division.

Sorry for not being able to specifically answer this question but with out some more information then I really can not answer the question.
