Towing Issues: car was towed, speed limit signs, plymouth minnesota

Question
Last night I was at a friends apartment in Plymouth Minnesota.  There are parking spaces that have little signs that read "Guest parking, violators will be towed at owners expense"  These spaces are the only ones marked, all others spaces declare nothing at all. There is also no warning signs as you enter the parking lot itself. I caught the tow truck as he was in the process of connecting up my car and had to pay him $100.00 on the spot to stop. Is it legal to enforce a towing law for parking in a space that has no warning?

Answer
Well each state has different laws regarding towing signs and what can and can not be done..

Now while some spaces have signs and others do not, it does create some problems.. But just like speed limit signs  they do not need them everywhere. But not every space has to have signs, and I know it seems like they should, but it also creates other issues for people from other countries.. If your main language is French, or German then are there supposed to be signs in every language?

You did not mention what space you were in, and that might be a key here... If you were a guest then you might have a leg to stand on, if you were parked in a guest space..
That would mean someone made a mistake.

But catching the tow truck was most likely cheaper and better... I would check with the apartment management and see what they say.
