Towing Issues: PT Crusier towing capability, small utility trailer, max payload

Question
I have a 2005 PT Cruiser with an automatic transmission and a four cylinder engine(non-turbo) and I have a small utility trailer single axle 5 x 8. Will my car safely haul that trailer. (will it hurt my car)

Answer
Well since its not my area of expertise, I did an online search and found this information about the PT Cruiser

Weights: curb weight (lbs) 3,031, gross trailer weight braked (lbs) 1,001 and max payload (lbs) 864

That means it can haul a trailer and cargo that weights a total of 1001 pounds.

Now much does your trailer weigh and what are you expecting to put in the trailer are the questions you have to answer yourself.

As to will it hurt your vehicle no one can actually say YES or NO on that question...   If its way to heavy it can cause it to work harder and possibly damage the vehicles brakes, engine or transmission trying to do what you are attempting to do.

Also a fact to consider is that it is a FRONT WHEEL DRIVE and any weight put on the rear of the vehicle via the trailer hitch assembly will cause the rear to go down and the front to come up... That will affect the steering and traction of the vehicle negatively...

Hope this helps
