Towing Issues: Standard Pricing, jerr dan, answering your questions

Question
A dumb question...I have been poking around on the net (Miller Industries, Jerr-Dan, etc) looking for how much a NEW light duty recovery vehicle is.  I'm talking about a wheel lift based on the 3/4 ton pickup truck platforms...with all the modifications required....how much do one of these bad boys sell at MSRP??
Thanks

Answer
well a 3/4 ton pickup is not enough truck for towing unless it is just real small compact cars...

In fact in many states it now is required that the truck be over a 1 ton truck, (ford F 450 or larger) are being required now due to weight transfer issues, steering control, braking capacity.

Now as to cost its hard to really say as each dealer has a profit margin they want to make... But depending on the options and such you can spend 60,000 or more for a new truck be it a flatbed or recovery unit.

I know there are more questions you will have and I know that you can check all over the net and talk to people and dealers about trucks...  But what are you going to do is the key, used units are good also if you find one that has not been abused.

Good luck and hope I started answering your questions but I know you will have more
