Towing Issues: can lifiting the front wheels of a RWD car (without moving it yet) cause any damage?, tow truck driver, small wheels

Question
i parked my 5 month old 07 bmw335i at a meter today and missed the no parking 3-6pm sign....lucky when i saw it the tow truck driving just lifted my front wheels and haven't moved the car yet....so i paid and have the car released rite away...

however, i'm worried if this can cause any damage to the front suspensions...also when he let down the front of my car and retracting the "tail"...my car kinda moved a bit...and i heard this scary sound (not sure if it's just the sound of the retraction mechanism or if it cracked/scratched the bottom part of my bunper)...

i've no idea why he lifted the front wheels of a RWD car...not like there's anything behind my car to blocking him...the tow truck driver claimed that he was very careful w/ it and he was plannin to lift the rear wheels as well b4 taking off...

Answer
well as a rule, it should not of done any damage to the vehicle and yes it will move just a bit.  But like anything (jacks, ramps, speed bumps, or curbs) anything that goes under a vehicle can cause damage by scraping parts...

But remember that all the parts of the tow truck are also sitting on the ground and as such they will make scraping noises also.

Why he lifted the front not the rear, no idea but there are some common reasons  (one way streets, vehicles behind it that moved before you came out) but most of the time, vehicles are lifted at both ends by using the tow truck unit and dollies (those small wheels on the back of the truck)..
