Towing Issues: towing a 6litre Ford F-350, ford f 350, frame issue

Question
QUESTION: I will need to tow a Ford 6 liter F-350 automatic.i have no access to a recovery vehicle. what precautions do i need to take when towing the immobilized F-350. it will be towed by another F-350

ANSWER: well the transmission is an area of concern.  Removing the driveline will be best answer to prevent damage.

Now I do not know how you plan on towing it, but for sake of argument, remember that you will not have power steering, or brakes on the towed vehicle.

I really can not answer this as there are big holes in the question...

Why no tow truck available, is it on a deserted island ?
Or is the Money it would cost to tow it being the big problem...

QUESTION: the ford f 350 will be in the desert in chad, in africa. the only other vehicle to tow will b a ford f-350.i hope to be able to tow with a A-frame from towing vehicle to disabled vehicle

ANSWER: OK well I guess this is the furthest away question I have had that I know of...

Ok, the A Frame issue I guess will work, not exactly what kind you are talking about, but remove the driveline to the rear axle by removing the 4 bolts there and making sure that you either tie up the driveline to keep it from falling down and out or removing it totally..

This is the way to prevent damage to the transmission.

Now if the A FRAME is one where an end of the vehicle is lifted then if the vehicle is 2 wheel drive (somehow in the desert I believe it would be 4 wheel drive) I would try to lift the drive wheel end.

QUESTION: the four wheels will be on the ground of the immobilized f-350.the a-frame will go from the tow hitch to two eyes on the front of the immobilized f-350. this is a military vehicle. can be seen on www.ricardo.com srv. is there any extra precautions which need to be taken. thanks for all your help so far

Answer
since it will be "wheels down" you need to remove the driveline to prevent damage to the transmission... If it is 4 wheel drive and has front locking hubs then you can make sure the front end hubs are in free and remove the rear driveline to prevent the chances of damage..
