Towing Issues: Towing charges, appliance repairman, tow companies

Question
My daughter parked illegally near campus, on private property (Tucson, Arizona)and was towed. When I called to arrange to get the car they told me it would be 200.00 and that they were not open on Sunday.

My gripe?  First of all, 200.00 seems like alot for a tow. Secondly, the car was towed on a Sunday - a day the place is not open??  THanks in advance for your answer.

Answer
Well  first of all, $200.00 is about normal for what I have heard for fees..
Now the Sunday issue,  they are open for towing, but like other business operations they also have normal business hours.  They usually tell people they are closed, but in reality they are available to release vehicles for a "after hours release fee"...  In most cases that fee is more than than the additional day of storage.

But tow companies are just like police and fire departments, they work 7 days a week, 24 hours a day...
Ever have to call a plumber or appliance repairman any time other than Monday to Friday 8 to 5 ?   Look at those charges ...

But the big problem with illegal parking issues are the facts that they happen at all hours of every day. That means that the property owner has to call tow trucks to remove vehicles at times when additional fees apply to the towing and or storage and release of the vehicle.

Hope that this helps a bit...
