Towing Issues: a towaway issue in new york, consumer affairs office, york police department

Question
my car was parked in a no parking section and i received a ticket and within 5 minutes my car was owed to Chelsea piers where I had to pay $185 to get my car back. My question is at what point according to new york state law is my car legally able to be towed due to my parking violation on W 39th street near the Port Authority?

Answer
the New York Police department has its own tow trucks, who do towing, and I believe some contracted towers also who take them to the piers....

But in a nut shell if it's a no parking zone, then as soon as the ticket is written it is fair game and it usually leaves very quickly...

State law is sometimes expanded upon by additional city laws and as such you would be best to look into the DCA (department of consumer affairs) office and see what they have listed for information... I know they have a website, but I am not on my normal computer right now or I would give you a link to it.

The times I have been in NYC, I have seen the tow trucks following the officers as they write and issue tickets and yes they are very fast it removing the vehicles...

Hope this bit of information helps, but like I said, I am not on my normal computer.
