Towing Issues: car towed, condo complexes, electrical problems

Hi,  I was about 1/2 mil from home parked legally when a parking guy came and asked why my tags were expired...i showed him current licence , proof of insurance and that I paid my registration fee but was flunked on my smog due to electrical problems....he towed my car 2 blocks next day cost 260.00 to get out do I have any recourse?? joanne

Well this sounds a bit fishy to me....  I know there is more to this question than is told here..

He came up and asked you why it had expired tags ???  

You did not have any current tags or temp tags on the vehicle ???

Now I know that some apartment and condo complexes have rules and regulations in the leases which state your vehicle has to be operative and legally licensed..

1/2 mile from your house ? was it on the street or in a parking lot ??

As to recourse, I have no real idea depending on the laws of your City or state. Regulations are there regarding towing rules also....   

I would check out the lease which you have at your residence, but if you were towed from someplace like a parking lot of a store or mall type place then it is totally different rules...
