Towing Issues: towing &storage fees, storage fees, towing companies

Question
is there a different charge for towing a car that has been in a accident that one that is impounded.
my employee had her car towed to body shop and she found out that insurance may not cover the repair she call and ask what the charges were and was told 100.00 for tow and 25.00 /day for storage that was 2 days ago, she called today and was told that it was 250.00 for tow and 35.00/day for 22 days,  can they do that? thank's for your help.

Wow interesting question.  

Now I have to say one thing here in defense of the towing companies, as a lot of body shops do mark up the tow bills a huge amount,and you know who would get the blame for the high bills... Now with that said (and some body shops now mad at me for saying that in public)

Body shops also do tend to bury tow bills into repair bills so that they can get the increases via other means...

Unfortunately, you found out that business practices are sometimes a bit shady dealing with sub contracted work done.
