Towing Issues: Truck towage due to 8 DAYS late on regist., legal precedence, expired plates

Question
Hey Richard,
I live in an apartment with unassigned parking. I park my truck where I feel it is close to my unit and relatively safe, as does everyone I would guess. My registration expired May 31st '07, just one week ago.
Yesterday June 8th after the apt. manager had left for the day, I noticed a fancy, shamcy tow truck with two people, one driving and the other one walking around looking for expired plates.
Question: Do property managers have legal precedence over state laws regarding impounding of vehicles? I live in Flagstaff, AZ. Please help!

Answer
Well, I hate to say it, but most every apartment - condo complex has provisions in the leases which state that vehicles must be licensed and in operable conditions...
I am going to guess yours has that provision...

Remember also just one other fact, that apartments are also PRIVATE PROPERTY and as such you will find they do have some provisions they will enforce which will go against against state law...

Just remember that licensed and insured vehicles are what is legal to be on roadways and used...

The tow company was most likely following directions as to what violations to look for and to tow. I know I have done that before...  In some large apartment complexes you would be amazed at how many vehicles are not licensed, or are just plain abandoned..
