Towing Issues: Hawaii State Towing Laws?, small claims court, tow fees

Question
Hi Richard,

I parked my car overnight on public street parking. The next day a newly posted safety sign was laying on the ground stating the street is now a tow-away zone from the hours of 7am to 4pm. My car was ticketed by the PD and towed the same day, this happened on a saturday. The receipt I have from the towing company shows they arrived on-scene and towed my car away by 9am. I'm contesting the ticket but I can't find the law stating that 24 hour notice needs to be given.

Also I'm asking to have the towing fee reimbursed, is this something thats possible or am I out the money it cost to get my car back?

Thanks

Answer
aahhhh   24 hour notice ? for parking violations on public streets ..

Well aahhhh the police department does not have to give a 24 hour notice on vehicles unless the vehicle is deemed a abandoned vehicle...  Now as to contesting the tow and ticket... Good luck I am sure you can try though the police department (if you got a ticket you can contest that and it might cover the tow fees)... If not you might be able to go thought the small claims  court, but not sure that you can take a police department or police ordered tow though it...

Good luck on what ever you decide.
