Towing Issues: towing capacity of my 2003 ford 150, four horses, size horse

Question
i need to know what capacity can i haul  i want to haul a four horse trailer loaded  can i do this with my truck it has a v8 triton

Answer
You don't give me a lot of information to go on, so I will base my answer on the biggest heaviest F-150, the crew cab 4WD, that will have the lowest towing capacity.  That is 7700 pounds, and that assumes you have the towing/camper package.  Without that, the capacity is noticably less, and you won't be able to two a 4-horse trailer.

You will have to figure your own trailer load, but assume what?  about 1200 pounds each for a full size horse, but if you have a draft horse then it will be more.  If they are ponies, it will be less.

You have about 5000 pounds in four horses.  The trailer could be 3000 or more pounds depending on what it is made of and other options.  Then you add in everything that you will carry, tack, feed, etc, and that could be 200-400 more pounds.  We see that you can easily get to 8000+ pounds without trying.

Again, without knowing more, you probably should get either a smaller trailer or a heavier duty truck.  Right now it looks like you will be overloaded.
