Towing Issues: tow dolly towing behind our class c, baltimore county maryland, rv market

Question
Richard, I just purchased a 2008 Sunseeker 3100SS Class C Motorhome.  It has the Ford 450 Chassis with the V10 and is rated to tow 5,000 pounds.  I'd like to tow my 2003 front wheel drive Buick Lesabre behind it.  According to the door panel, it has a GVWR of 4781 lbs. (don't know if this is the proper weight for a 2003 lesabre). I'm looking at the Stehl ST80TD Tow Dolly.  Do you think this would work? I've towed trailers behind my Ford Excursion V10 before but nothing like this.  What should I look out for and be aware of?  I'm trying to get informed before I head out on the open road to discover this great country of ours again through the eyes of my four kids (2-9)Thanks, David from Baltimore County, Maryland

Answer
While I am not 100 percent sure of things dealing with the RV market, it would sound like it can work...
One thing to consider when dealing with an RV and the tow rating is that the more stuff you have inside it (and people) it tends to take away from the actual tow rating.

I would check with the dealer or other RV places about the towing of the car on the dolly.. All the weight adds up so be careful, and have the RV checked for items needed like extra transmission coolers, and if any different service schedules are needed because of the towing..
