Towing Issues: illegal tow???, tow truck company, tow company

Question
I parked my car in a plaza parking lot. Each parking slot in front of the store fronts had a customers only/car will be towed sign. How ever on the other side of the lot the parking spaces had no signs. So I parked there when I returned I found that my car had been towed. 1. I wasn't parked in front of or near the business who called the tow truck. 2. The business had the wrong tow truck company on there signs. The worst ting after realizing you've been towed is calling the company and them telling you they don't have your car. 3. When I said there was no signs stating that you couldn't park in the spots across the lot. I was directed to look all the way at the other end of the lot about 12 ft. up and behind a bush. This is already costing me $110. Is there anyway to dispute this and get my money back?

Answer
Well this sounds like one of those nightmare type parking lots .. Let me guess, a small strip mall type complex with about 7 stores or so... that's what it sounds like to me..

Now as to the signs and the wrong towing service listed on them... In defense of the tow company, there could of been a recent change in the contracts, or the company changed hands...

OR the store that called does not know the rules and regulations about having vehicles towed, which is very common in many areas.. I noticed you did not list the city or state you are in, and that might be something that might help you in this case... Many locations are required to follow regulations in order to have vehicles removed. Its up to the property owners and also the towing company to follow them..

Now as to the signs and where you said that one was,  I think there might of been more at one time, but things do get damaged, removed out of spite, or what ever...

I one time was towing cars from a truck stop parking lot and we also had signs which were also posted 14 feet in the air on poles, along with signs at each entrance and throughout the lot about 4 feet off the ground... The vehicle owner took us to court because they did not see the signs which were low, but only the ones that were in the air ... Told us that the trucks were blocking the view of the signs and the trucks should not park at the truck stop..   Judge was like aahhh where are they supposed to park...

If you want to try and get the money back, go to the small claims court and file a case there.. You might win, but then you might also lose.
