Towing Issues: 1991 Ford F150 towing capacity, ford f150 towing capacity, drive wheels

Question
What is the towing capacity of my 1991 Ford F150 XLT Lariat trailer special with a 302 engine transmission type E, rear end 355, axel 19.  I would like to pull a tandem trailer with total weight of 4500 pounds.

Answer
According to Edmunds.com, the capacity of a 2WD XLT extended cab (you don't mention body style or drive wheels, but any other configuration won't make a lot of difference) with the 6 cyl has a towing capacity of 7500 pounds and the trailer special with V8 should be even better.

So you are safely within the capacity of the truck assuming it is in good shape and you have a hitch with the right capacity.
