Towing Issues: towing with a hitch extension, slide in truck camper, drawtite hitches

Question
I have recentley purchased a slide in truck camper for my 3500 pickup. The camper hangs out of the back a bit and I would need an 18" extension to tow anything. Im planning on towing a trailer around 6,000 lbs. I have not been able to find any hitch extensions that are rated for this weight. Is towing a trailer of this weight possible with an extension? What kind of setup would I need?

Answer
OK, I will admit I don't know the exact answer to this and am not going to make a guess.  But if you can't find any extensions at the stores that sell hitches, or can't find any on-line from a company like Draw-tite:

or Reese:

Then I would say that it isn't a good idea.  The amount of force on a "lever" that long can't be good for geometry in a number of ways.

I recommend you contact either or both of those companies directly and see what they say.
