Towing Issues: Towing speed and capacity, sleep number bed, ford windstar

Question
I have a Ford Windstar. I would like to rent a Uhaul 4'x6' trailer and use it to tow a king-size Sleep Number bed from Utah to Texas.

Question #1: Would my Ford Windstar (2001, FWD) have any problems towing this weight?

Question #2: On the uhaul.com web site it states the the max recommended speed of their trailers is 45mph. Is that really true? Can I drive 55 or 60mph safely? It would probably add a day to the trip if I had to drive 45.

Question #3: What kind of hitch (size, etc.) do you recommend, and should I install it myself or have Uhaul do it for me?

Thanks,
Matt

Answer
well lets go handle the questions backwards..

The hitch,  I would go to U Haul and let them install the correct sized one on the Mini Van... They will get the right one for it.  This also will let you know the capacity of the hitch and your vehicles towing capacity.  They have huge books on what is correct for each vehicle.

Now the 2nd question..  U Haul has those stickers on their vehicles for a bit of a CYA deal..   I know I have rented some of there equipment and have done highway speeds.
But if there was an accident, they could always point at the sticker and say you will be responsible for all the damages and fees.

Now the Windstar has a towing capacity weight of 3500 pounds.    I do not know what the bed weights.  But it might be in the range for this job you want to do..

I would be careful on hills both up and down,  you would hate to have the trailer pushing you around on the roadway.

If you go, take care and have a safe trip.  Hope this helped.
