Towing Issues: Not paying for the tow, tow yard, towing company

Question
My car was towed in the state of delaware and when i went to go pick it up, i couldn't even find the office for the towing company. i wandered around awhile, checked out my car (they towed it with the parking break on), and left because i had to go to work and the gate was already open. so the question is, am i still at fault, even though they carelessly left the gate open? and if so, what is likely to happen if i don't contact them to pay it?

Answer
aahhh let me get this straight..

You got towed for some reason, and you went to the tow yard and went inside the yard and walked around and checked your car, and then since you could not find anyone, you took the car?

Are you nuts ?    that is theft of service in most states and in some of them it is grand theft auto in others.  Never mind that you own the vehicle.  You stole it from someone who was trusted and required to protect it..

Get ahold of them before they show up at your door with the police and a set of handcuffs.  I am sorry that I seem so mad, but something serious happened here.

The towing company towed the vehicle ( we do not know why ) but the various reasons could be illegal parking in a parking lot, or the police ordered it towed for a driver arrest or some other reason.  The towing company performed a service and they need to get paid for it... The action of taking the vehicle ( if I read the question right ) is outright theft.

I hope you do contact the towing company quickly and make arrangements to resolve the issue..

Sorry for the attitude but I am at a real loss for a proper response to this...
