Towing Issues: Retrieval time for personal vehicles, tow truck drivers, harford county md

Question
How much time (days, hours?) does government (state and local) give you to retrieve your vehicle that broke down on the side of the road?  Specifically, Harford County, MD.  Roads such as I95, Rt 40, I695 - are there separate laws governing these interstates versus local roads?  If you don t know, can you tell me who to ask?

Answer
well I tried a bit of research on the web and could not really find much about that area and the laws specificly for it..

Now abandoned vehicle laws as a general rule, include vehicles with expired tags, missing parts, wrecked, or disabled which are not being used.

Now a vehicle on the side of the highway, that is a differant matter. Generally a vehicle if deemed " in a hazardous place or creating a hazard " can be removed immediatly.

I am sure you have seen the great traffic jams on the highways when wrecks or even police are stopping a vehicle.

Its called " gawkers diease "  Now any vehicle parked on the side of the roadway can be deemed a hazard and towed due to the motoring public driving where they are looking.
Each year dozens of police, fire and tow truck drivers, get killed or injured because of peoples inattention while driving. Flashing lights cause " moth to the flame" problems.

Now from your question, it would appear you had a breakdown and your car was towed before you got back. Given the trend of everyone having cell phones,  police have started to get quicker in removing vehicles. This is so that no one hits them while sitting on the roadway.

The newest buzz word in traffic management is " INCIDENT MANAGEMENT " which really means get the roads clear and open as fast as possible and have no further traffic problems or accidents.

If your car was towed after you left it, I do not know how long you would really get as alot of it is judgement calls by the officers on scene. You can talk to the state police and ask them for the rules and regulations for state highways and interstates.  County roads would be the sheriffs office.

Those are where I would look for further information.  Sorry that I could not find a solid answer for you.
