Towing Issues: Drop Fees and Lawful Towing (Plus some other stuff), newport beach california, parking brakes

Question
I sent you an Email, for some reason both my browsers fail when I try to ask a follow up.

To clarify:

1) The car was in a residential complex in Newport Beach California.

2) My tires skid only about 10 feet, but it was then the bottom left of the cars frame (below and under the left bumper) that skid across the floor, being ground down significanly when compared to the right underside of the car. Thankfully, from the side or from an upper angle, its not noticeable. Approach it from below, and you can tell.

3) I have a 1995 Volvo 850, white, manual shift.

4) The information about the car having to be called in an hour before was something I read, on this forum I believe, about California law.

Hope this helps to clarify.

Answer
well  California always seems to have lots of problems dealing with Parking of vehicles in apartments and condos.
unfortunatly I had a computer problem and lost lots of my reference materials on Private Propery Impounds ( but am getting them all back slowly )

The Volvo, well the parking brakes are designed to hold it from rolling, chances are its not hurt with the short distance that it was dragged.
Now as to the body damage, I would take and go see the owner/ manager of the towing company ( could of been the person on scene when it was towed ) and mention that there is damage done to the vehicle.  I do not know if they will do anything, but ethically they should.

Good luck and I hate to say it but be carefull where you park next time.. The towing companies tend to remember vehicles which they have " gotten " before.
