Towing Issues: Can My Truck Pull My Boat, cigarette boat, factory wheels

I have a 2006 Cadillac Esaclade AWD with 20inch factory wheels and I recently purchased a 38 ft Cigarette boat with a dry weight of 9200lbs.  It has a 3 axle techsun trailer custom made for the boat, but the problem is that the boat is in Houston and I live in Chicago.  I would like to go a get it myself but I'm worried my truck can not handle it because of the long distance.  Can my truck pull over it classified weight of 8100lbs

well the dry weight of the boat being 1100 pounds over, is not real bad for weight.  BUT you will be faced with hills and wind resistance during the trip. You may not notice a problem but there could be one in the transmission due to overheating of the fluid. It might take some time to show damages.

Your engine will also be working at max or a bit over it. Your potential for damages to your new vehicle is great in my mind.  I would be looking at other options. You never what what you can find if you look.   I would hate to tell you that it will be good to do and have something go wrong.


Your truck most likely can handle the weight, I just have no solid answer for this one though.
