Towing Issues: Towing package, package option, tow hitch

I was wondering what the phrase "towing package" means.  I am trying to sell my car and want to take the tow bar off and put it on my new car and I want to know if I can still sell it as "towing package".  Does it mean the hookups and electrical?

Thank you for your inquiry.

The term "towing package" refers to all the components required for towing.  These components include the tow hitch, trailer wiring, a heavy duty radiator, and an auxilary transmission cooler.  If you remove one or  more of those components, it would not be a complete tow package.

If your car was original purchased with the towing package option, you could advertise it as being tow ready with the addition of a tow bar.
