Toyota Repair: problems with my toyotas emitions

ive been having problems with my toyota regarding emitions when i go to get it smogged and i dont know what i can do to help my 4runner pass smog. Its running high emitions and is running alil rough from it any help would be great if u need more info please let me know

hello, high emission readings are usually due to a malfunction of the emission control system but you mentioned it runs a little rough so I would think that this is related, an engine misfire will dramatically increase exhaust emissions so you'll need to take care of the misfire first, this could be bad spark plugs, plug wires or distributor cap cracked, try replacing these items and see if it runs better.
