Toyota Repair: 1996 Toyota Previa

Van has 250205 miles, LE, SC Auto, Engine totally rebuilt three years ago. Just recently engine chugges and stalls at stops and then barely runs to get it home.  Blueish light smoke out tailpipe, and quite noticable smell of gas in the air, 'Check Engine' light appears.  Any ideas?  I don't have access to a Toyota Hand Held, but I do have Shop Manual and Electric Manual and digital meter.  Just clueless...

hello, since the check engine light is on that would be the fist place to go, I need to know what diagnostic codes are in the computer, you can have the codes read at most autoparts stores like autozone, o reilly etc, let me know the code numbers, this will give me a clue where to start looking for the problem.
