Toyota Repair: Transmission problem?, toyota avalon xls, neutral safety switch

Question
I own a 2001 Toyota Avalon XLS, 185,000 miles, auto transmission; my problem: Sometimes, when the transmission is in the "Park" position, the car will not start. If I leave the ignition switch in the "On" position and push hard on the brake petal, the gear shift will release to the "N" position and the car will start. Any ideas or suggestions?

Answer
Hello, it's most likely a problem with the neutral safety switch, it's located on the transmission where the shifter cable attaches, you can see it by looking down next to the battery all the way down, it has an electrical connector on it with lots of wires .
