Toyota Repair: no start, distributor cap, signal generator

Question
I HAVE A 93 CAMRY - 4 CYLINDER - IT CRANKS BUT DOES NOT TURN OVER DIAGNOSTIC SAYS: "NO RPM TO ECU WHILE CRANKING" WOULD THAT BE THE COIL OR DISTRIBUTOR?? OR SOMETHING ELSE??
ANY HELP WOULD BE HELPFUL - THANK YOU, NANCY

Answer
Hello, that would most likely be a problem with the distributor, there is an rpm signal generator that is not sending a signal to the computer that the engine is not rotating, before replacing the distributor check to make sure that the rotor is turning while cranking the engine by removing the distributor cap and checking to see if the rotor turns.
