Toyota Repair: 95 Prizm rough idle then stalling, distributor cap, prizm

My 95 Prizm was having an intermittent idle problem as sometimes it would run great other times when I came to a stop it would idle roughly and die. I kept driving it as i need the car to get around. Now when I drive it i take off and then it loses all power and dies out on the open road or if it doesnt if I put it in neutral however it wont rev up. After a few second it will restart and if I feather the throttle it will all of the sudden start running fine again and then a minute later do the same thing. Thank You I would appreciate any help you could give.

I would recommend doing a tune up consisting of spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, check the coil while the cap is off, they can crack or leak to ground(very common)replace the fuel and air filter, those are all items that can cause this problem. It's up to you in which order you do these but I would go to the coil first and check it for cracks etc.
