Toyota Repair: PO466, emission control system, evaporative emission control system

Question
I have a 1998 Camry 6 cyl XLE with 125,000 miles on it.  My engine light came on.  I ran a code key check and came up with PO446  Evaporative Emission Control System-Vent control circuit. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong that I can tell.  Will this damage my car?  What do you advise me to do?

Answer
This is an emission control related issue and does not affect driveabilty ot cause damage to any other area of your car. Replace the gas cap with one from the dealer for about $20, remove the negatrive battery cable for about a minute and I think you may just be ok after that if not get back to me here.
