Toyota Repair: DLC3 / MOBD / OBD2, expert category, scan devices

Question
QUESTION: Hi, i have a HDJ100 landcruiser and i bought a scan gauge and the unit wont read the signal from the DLC3/OBD2 connector.
Is there an adaptor require to be able to read the OBD signal, or do i need to change the wiring pin out to get it to communicate with the scan gauge?
I have the scan gauge so i can a. read the fault codes, b. improve fuel economy.
Can you help

Regards

Ricky

ANSWER: Are you connecting to the DLC3 connector inside at the lower left(LHD) or lower right (RHD)?

QUESTION: The vehicle is australian delivered and the connector is on the RHD lower right.
I have found that oyota uses a Multiplex On Board Diagnostic system and most of the scan devices on the market will not read the MOBD. The scan protocal seams to be ISO.

Is there a canvertor or adaptor available so a OBD2 - EOBD unit will read the toyota ECU etc

Answer
Sorry, none that I know of, I can refer you to another site where someone may be able to help. Go to www.justanswer.com/ it's a pay site. Enter your information there and follow the instructions, I would suggest selecting the "australian car expert" category in the Toyota main selection.
