QUESTION: I tried autozone

Answer
If their diagnostic tool is not able to communicate they diagnostic connector may be damaged, check the terminals in the connector and the wires exiting the connector, other than that if the wiring is good check the connections at the computer, it may have to be replaced. There is a service bulletin from toyota for defective computers from 2005 to 2008 for matrix and corollas if your production date is after 06/04 and the computer number matches the affected ones it may be covered and you get a new one at no charge, you would have to contact the toyota dealer with your VIN# and the computer part number, the number can be read off the computer label directly below the glove compartment, there is a denso number and a toyota number, use the toyota number.Click or paste this link into your browser to check your VIN#
