Toyota Repair: 1998 toyota rav 4, toyota rav 4, air control valve

Question
My truck sometimes idles high  and sometimes normally what should i check could it be the tps please help

Answer
Not likely the TPS or there would be a check engine light on. Most likely cause is a sticking idle air control valve. It's located on the bottom of the throttle body, the throttle body has to be removed from the intake chamber then the IAC valve can be taken off and cleaned out, it's usually carbon deposits that cause it to stick, using some spray carb/choke cleaner and a brush to clean the IAC and the inside of the throttle body usually solves these idle problems.
