Toyota Repair: 1999 Camry Stalls at idle, vent line, toyota camry

Question
QUESTION: Recently purchases a 1999 Toyota Camry 4 cyl. with 70,000 original miles.  When engine is hot ( driving 30 minutes in 100 degree temps when coming to stop engine rpm will fluctuate from 200 to 1200 and die.  Have done plugs, wires, fuel and air filter. checked egr, tps, map, and ect. I cleaned throttle body and IAC and tried replacing IAC no solution.  Discovered when engine went into evap purge is when the engine would die at idle. Was told by Toyota Canister was bad and had it replaced.  Still have same problem.  No codes have ever been set.  Is it the evap system or is there something else coming on at same time and causing the problem. slightly confused and don't know what else to do, any help would be appreciatred.

ANSWER: An evap system malfunction should turn the check engine light on but it may be too intermittent. I would try replacing the evap purge vsv.

QUESTION: Very.hot today and still dying after replacing purge vsv.  If I disconnect line to evaporate at vsv car will not stall, however when I connect line when vsv turns on car will die immediately.  Evaporate complete is new, purge vsv is new.  Is there anyway that the ORV and crossover could be causing this problem ?  Does not appear fuel in actual line.  Still working on it.  Any idea's?

ANSWER: It sounds like the purge vsv is staying open, when it's operating it there should be a rapid clicking, it's duty cycle operated, it may be getting a constant voltage from the computer that's keeping it open, this would indicate a computer malfunction.

QUESTION: Plugged vsv vacuum line and plugged line to canister, cracked gas cap,  problem went away. Cel on cause of gas cap.  Is it possible that the ORV and or crossover pipes with check valves on tank could cause this problem or would you think the canister is bad.  I have checked vent line to air cleaner. Is it possible the vent line to tank is bad in some way.  Sorry but you have been my best hope for this difficult problem.

Answer
I don't think the canister is the problem, since plugging those hoses causes the problem to stop there may be a leak between the evap purge vsv and the canister, on this model the canister should be in the rear of the car, the other valves on the tank could be leaking but I have seen only one case of this, the vent line you mentioned could also be blocked with debtis. You need to confirm that the purge vsv is not staying open all the time.
