Toyota Repair: RE:VSC trac light on, advanced auto parts, negative battery

I had the VSC trac light and the check engine light come on at the same time two days ago.  I was backing out of my driveway and hit the brakes.  I sent to Advanced Auto Parts and they gave me the code for the check engine light and I need a gas cap that came up three times. I can invest  $9 dollars and 29 cents for this .  i had a P0446 code and that was a vacuum or something else.  I want to know can I keep driving my car with the VSC light on.  No code came up for that. Replaced back brakes 3 or 4 months ago and had new front brakes a year ago.  I have a 2005 RAV 4l with about 142,300 miles. I have been happy with the car this far but everything is so expensive to fix

The VSC/TRAC lights turn on when the check engine light turns on, this is by design, as soon as the check engine light cause is fixed and the check engine light stays off the other lights will turn off, removing the negative battery terminal for about a minute will clear all trouble codes.
