Toyota Repair: timing belt/chain, toyota sienna xle, toyota sienna

Question
Could you tell if the 2004 toyota sienna xle has a timing belt or chain and if a belt, when do you change it. I bought the van with 116,000 miles. If the belt has been changed is there any way to know since there is no record. The van runs really well and I would like to know since I will be taking a long trip soon. Could you also tell me the approximate cost for that service. I would also have the water pump replaced of course.

                          Thank you,

Answer
The 04 Sienna uses a timing belt, it is recommended to be replaced at 90,000 miles, the cost variesbetween dealer and independent, i would recommend the dealer, cost also varies with location, average would be around $650 for the belt and pump, check with the local toyota dealer as they are running timing belt specials most of the time.
