Toyota Repair: toyota avalon, oil sludge, toyota avalon

Question
I have a 2000 toyota avalon xls. Its got around 160,000 mi and a few days ago the engine and oil light started coming on, checked all fluid levels good. So just today i was driving and car died out and it seems to be locked up it wont turn over any solutions? By the way previously the oil on dipstick when i checked fluids was unusually clean looking even after it died out. Im thinking oil pump maybe? If so is car junk or worth fixing

Answer
Oil pumps usually don't go out while there is oil in it. When the oil light comes on it's because the engine has lost oil pressure which can result in serious engine problems including complete seizure of bearings. Even if the oil level was ok the oil pickup screen in the oil pan may have became partially restricted due to oil sludge or the was a sudden loss of a large amount of oil.
