QUESTION: What about for the timing cover? seal or gasket and what would it be called?

ANSWER: I have to revise my previuos answer, this is the 2GR-FE engine which uses timing chains there are no seals inside the timing cover, a very common leak on the engines is the VVTi oil hose located at the top on the right cylinder head, this can leak down and make it appear to be from the front cover. Toyota has a recall for this hose, it will be fixed at no charge to you, have the dealer refer to "LSC 90K" it's covered under the recall until March 31, 2013.

QUESTION: Yes that is a common problem with this engine but I have already done that repair. my oil leak is from behind the timing chain cover. Is there a seal/ gasket for that fix? if so what would it be called? Thank you for your time.

Answer
There are no seals inside the timing cover, this is where the timing chains are and there is oil in there at all times. Toyota had issued a service bulletin for the timing cover oil leak, this is not a recall, just a bulletin, it calls for removal of the timing cover and resealing it using a silicon based sealer. Unfortunately the engine has to be removed to get the cover off.
