Toyota Repair: 95 camry 4cyl power steering rack, power steering rack, tie rod ends

Question
My power steering rack is leaking so needs to be replaced. I've replaced struts and brake pads before and am contemplating attempting this myself.  I've read up on Alldata & in my Haynes manual.  Overall it seems fairly straightforward but I have some procedure related questions too.  Haynes says pull the rack from the right side of the car, Alldata from the left side.  Alldata also mentions a special tool needed to detach pressure/return tubes from the steering rack, Haynes mentions nothing of that. Will a flare nut or any wrench work, or do I need something special?  Also, I don't have a hoist. Is that a must, or can I get by with a jack & pair of jackstands?  Any other special tips would be appreciated too.  Thank you in advance.

Answer
I usually remove the rack through the driver's side just to get the steering tower, which is the largest part, throught first, the pressure lines can be tight so I would recommend using line wrenches, these tend not to slip on the fitting.  The tie rod ends can usually be popped loose by hitting the steering arm with a large hammer a few times. One thing I will caution you about, when removing the sttering coupling you may have to rotate the wheel a little, after removing the coupling bolts, center the steering wheel and secure it there so it can't turn, not doing this can damage the air bag spiral cable which is below the steering wheel. Center the new rack by counting the turns lock to lock and install it, after the column is connected back the wheels can be turned to put the bolts back in, you will need to have an alignment done after replacement.
