Toyota Repair: MAF, toyota matrix 4wd, toyota matrix

I was wondering if a MAF was going bad, would symptoms be rough idle in and out of gear. Just recently my check engine has gone on, and has not gone off yet. Before it went on my car was idling rough in and out of gear for the last 5 months. Thought my timing belt needed to be replaced, to find out that I have a timing chain. I have 112000 miles on the car, which is a 2004 Toyota Matrix 4WD XR.

Since the check engine light is on the first step would be to find out the diagnostic trouble codes, you can have those retreived at most Autozone or similar parts store, they canhelp you get the codes at no charge to you,hwen you have the code numbers post a reply and I will go from there.
