Toyota Repair: 01 Toyota Sequoia stalls at idle following battery change, toyota sequoia, degree weather

Question
I have a '01 Sequoia with 218k miles, a new
transmission at 80k miles, a new alternator,
new plugs & wires, just done... Until this
morningm I had a persistent Check Engine
indicator that my mechanic and I observed a
code for related to the Idle Air Controller
(IAC) as I recall... (its apparently something
that costs $300 so it has had to wait!)...
Now, this morning, my truck would not start
after having run for 30 min just fine-- starting
in 18 degree weather! I called my mechanic
who came and tested the battery and we
discovered that it was 10 yrs old and likely
not holding the charge well.
He brought me a new batery and we
installed it... Just put it straigt in, yested that
the truck started, and turned it off... He left.
10 min later I took it out to get gas, and
noticed that it began to die/stall every time I
took my foot off the accelerator to brake for a
turn.. And at stoplights it died also.
Mechanic told me to take it home, turn off,
and then start it and let it just sit and idle for
10 min and it would "reset". This seems
different than you have told others before
(2002 sequoia stalls at Idle) so I 'm
wondering:
1) do both methods work?
2) what can explain the fact that after 1 hr of
driving now, w new battry, I still no longer
have the "check engine" indicator light ON
anymore??

Answer
If you have read my past answers you should have come across the recommendation to clean the inside of the throttle body using a brush and some air intake spray cleaner so give that a try and let me know if it helps. Disconnect the battery while doing this then reconnect and drive it right away this should restore the idle to normal.
