Toyota Repair: Engine goes high intemittently, toyota camry 1998, toyota camry

I own a toyota camry 1998 model, and each time i drive it for some long time the indicator 'CHECK' appears. whenever this indicator comes on the speed will drop, the engine will go high and the speedometer will cease to work. what are the problems?

The reason the check engine light turns on is that the computer has detected a problem, you will have to have the trouble codes read at a repair facility or an auto parts store, most atores like Autozone will help you get those codes at no charge, once you have the trouble code numbers you can let me know what they are in a reply.
