Toyota Repair: 1990 toyota corolla, toyota corolla, fuse box

Question
the fuse box next to the battery needed the fuses replaced, we had a difficult time getting this open to replace the fuses. at first the car would not start at all, we replaced the fuses and now it starts but won't stay running. I think maybe we messed up the fuse connector when we took one of the fuses out, and now it starts but will not stay running, should we replace the whole thing that holds the fuses. It this a common problem. it is my sons car and he ran the battery down, replaced batter and the alternator. is there any advice you can give us? much appreciated.

Answer
All the fuses should be checked under the hood as well as the ones inside at the lower left of the dash, there may be more fuses blown which is usually what happens when the battery may have accidentally been connected backwards. Was the 80Amp alternator fuse replaced?
