Toyota Repair: Toyota Corolla Troubleshooting, toyota corolla, starter battery

Question
QUESTION: I have a 91 Toyota Corolla DLX and have been having problems with the car not wanting to start after we have either stopped and go driven it OR driven it short distances (to the store for example).  At first we thought it was the alternator, so we replaced that, we still had the problem.  Then we thought it was the battery as the battery was low on water so we replaced the battery, and just recently we replaced the starter thinking that the starter was going out and that was why it was not starting.  But despite all that we are still having the same problem with it.  What else can be wrong with it ???

ANSWER: I need some clarity on this before I can get too involved: Does the engine just crank but not start up or does absolutely nothing happen when trying to start it?

QUESTION: the car usually clicks but doesn't start.

We just changed out the Thermostat and the car has been starting fine and seems to be running smoother, but if the problem persists, the car will go "click click" like it's trying to start but won't until it appears to have cooled down or something.

ANSWER: Thanks for the reply, this is a common problem, what you need to do is to replace the starter.

QUESTION: Thanks but like I said, we already replaced the starter, battery, and the alternator and then yesterday the thermostat.  Are you sure that there is nothing else that could be wrong outside of all that. ???

Answer
I guess I should have read your original question again.  The only other things I can think of is that there is a voltage drop between the battery and the starter or the ignition switch and the starter, I assume that the battery conections are tight and the ground cable is secure. Another thing to check may be the neutral start switch(if automatic transmission) check the connector on top of the switch for any corrosion, I have not seen very many ignition switches cause this but I wouldn't rule it out.
