Toyota Repair: caliper pins, caliper, calipers

Question
A mechanic says he dosen't lube/grease the caliper pins because that makes them collect dirt.Thoughts on this.

Answer
There are two kinds of caliper pins, the ones that are on stationary calipers and all the pins do is hold the pads in place and then there are sliding pins in the two piece calipers in which the part with the piston moves to compensate for the wear of the brake pads, these absolutely most be lubricated, on the former it doesn't require lubrication because there is no movement and stay remain stationary.
