Toyota Repair: Diagnostic code 1138, precision tune auto care, crankshaft position sensor

Hi Vince,

Check engine light in my 01 Camry (4 cylinder) has been on for too long...took it to Precision Tune Auto Care to get it checked out. Mechanic came back with a diagnostic code of 1138, which he says is a faulty crankshaft sensor. Is he right?

Probably correct; did he say P1138, F1138, etc.  Check with Toyota to see if there is a recall on the Crankshaft Position Sensor.  If so, they pay to fix it.
If you need it replaced, find a trustworthy local mechanic (not the Precision tune yahoos, etc.).
