Toyota Repair: Toyota Rav 4 - Clutch, wd 40, squeek

My much loved 1996 Rav4 has developed a deep squeaky noise when pedal is about an inch of the floor.  You can feel a kind of resistance at this point as well. Making me nervous to change gear as it has got worse over the last two days.

The problem is the pedal assembly, it should be checked for any possible cracks, it may have to be removed for inspection, sometimes the bushings can be replaced to fix this squeek. If you want to try you can spray a lubricant up where the pedal pivots on the pedal housing, use something like WD-40 or a silicon based spray and see if that helps.
