Toyota Repair: 2001 toyota sienna ignition, release pin, toyota sienna

Question
I saw the response you gave for the ignition problem on a 2001 Toyota sienna.  I am having the same problem with mine.  You stated that the key has to be in the acc position to pull the lock out but I am not able to turn the key at all.  How can I get the it out then?

Answer
The cylinder release pin can't be depressed unless it's in the ACC position, the other choices are either to drill out the cylinder or cut the bottom of the lock housing, cutting the release pin off, neither is easy or cheap, have you tried having a new key cut, try having the dealer make a new key using the VIN# sometimes this works to get into the position so it can be removed.
